More than a day for MLK, we seek to reclaim and carry on the fight against racism, militarism, and capitalism through the lens of Black brilliance.
In addition to honoring and commemorating Rev. Dr. King and the mid-century Civil Rights Movement, join us for a celebration of the arts and activism that comprises the beauty of the Black liberation struggle.
Through music, poetry, speeches, reflections, and calls to action, we will represent the themes of abolition, reparations, anti-violence, reproductive rights, and building political power.

Freedom Arts & Education Center's mission is to empower young people to become the highly creative, literate, passionate, independent thinkers they are capable of becoming. We provide quality and diverse arts education to youth all throughout the St. Louis region and focus our efforts on the north and west sides of St. Louis City. Since 2012, we have been supporting families primarily with Black and POC students through accessible after school and weekend community arts programs, decolonized educational resources, enriching multidiscipline summer programming, and in-school advocacy.
We passionately create and consume art that is culturally relevant, challenging to the status quo, and uplifting to our community. The arts are a positive outlet for our emotions, a practical medium for skills development, and a powerful instrument for telling our stories. We leverage the arts to empower each other to build sustainable, creative lives, thus making St. Louis the vibrant and equitable region
it can be.
We know that the school to prison pipeline is a reality for our scholars and that succeeding in the classroom is crucial to succeeding in life. We are constantly refining our pedagogy in order to equip our scholars to be highly literate, independent thinkers who love learning and are academically strong. We work with our scholars to ensure they graduate at the top of their class and are leaders in their schools without succumbing to intellectual colonization.
We believe that progress means every human being understands their God-given image, realizes and utilizes the talents and abilities within, and obtains the resources to live truly free. Advancing and growing goes beyond arts and academics and requires us all to humble ourselves and put our hope in God. We faithfully do life with our scholars as they are the true agents of change our city needs. We believe that we are all united by one Creator and are therefore called to radical, compassionate service.
