Jamell Spann is a St. Louis native artist, activist, and educator with a deep commitment to community power and artistic integrity. A gifted poet, rapper, and visual artist, Jamell has a wealth of experience performing and creating all over the Midwest. As an activist, he has led trainings, protests, and direct actions on college campuses all around the St. Louis region. Jamell joined the Freedom Arts team in 2023 teaching classes in Hip Hop history and culture at Camp CAPE, and soon after that, started mentoring and teaching youth enrolled in After Sessions. An incredibly valuable member of the squad, Jamell brings an unique, unmatched balance of discipline and vulnerability that empowers, activates, and uplifts everyone around him.
